An Exciting Fall - Dear friends,
It’s hard to believe that the summer is near its end. My children all go back to school on Tuesday, which is both a relief and a grief. As a mother, it feels like my kids don’t age during the summer. Time moves a little slower, and we get to spend more time together. Once they’re back in school, I’m thankful for the return of a routine, but it also feels like time picks up again, and next thing I know they’ve all grown a little bit older.
I am looking, however, to a wonderful fall season, both at home and in the life of our church. This Sunday in worship, you'll receive a “Fall Events” card. On the front side you’ll find all the special activities scheduled for the fall - book launches, community conversations, church conferences, bingo night, Advent studies, and more. I hope you'll hang it on your fridge and mark your calendars to attend many of these exciting events.
On the back side of the card, you’ll see our lineup for our new Wednesday noon "Lunch and Learn" series. You’ll also find it at the bottom of the Mosaic. We are so fortunate to be welcoming so many exciting guest speakers who will talk to us on a variety of subjects from spiritual pilgrimages to racial justice in the church, from Christian nationalism to how best to prepare for the upcoming election, from the problems of original sin to lessons learned from a pastor with over 40 years of vocational ministry experience. I really hope you'll make it a priority to attend our Wednesday lunches, if not in person then on Zoom.
Please join me in gratitude and anticipation for what I trust will be a vibrant fall season, one that will grow us closer in fellowship and further in discipleship.
