Tiny, Beautiful Things

I just started reading Cheryl Strayed's Tiny Beautiful Things, and it is breaking me wide open. It is an emotional roller coaster of a read, but it is so beautiful. I told Matt, “This book is making me more human.”

Reading this book has heightened my awareness of how complicated life is and how desperately we all need help. Ram Dass once said, “We’re all just walking each other home,” and that’s what this book feels like to me. One person helping another person walk home.

I’m grateful to have so many fellow travelers on my life’s journey, many who are helping me walk home, and by home, I mean to myself. The Wednesday before last Danielle Shroyer came and spoke to us about spiritual direction and what it means to listen to your own soul, which is to listen to God.

I’ve had a hard time recently knowing what my soul wants, but I have friends who are helping me get there, patiently walking me to my own self. I hope that you have a fellow traveler on your journey, someone who is helping you find your own soul, your own self. In my experience, the church is a great place for such a pilgrimage.

With love,
Pastor Victoria
