In the wake of the heartbreaking tragedy in the Hill Country and Kerr County, and the devastating loss of life connected to Camp Mystic, we will gather for a prayer vigil this Wednesday, July 9 at 6:00pm in Vickrey Hall.
This will be a time to grieve together, hold space for those who are suffering, and lift up prayers for healing and peace. Our Minister of Children, Youth, and Families, Rev. Beth Johnson, will be present during the vigil and available to speak with anyone who has questions about how to talk to children about tragedies like this. Please do not hesitate to reach out for support.
Following the vigil, we will place green ribbons around all of the trees on our campus as a sign of solidarity with others across North Texas and in remembrance of all the lives lost.
As the Psalmist reminds us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” May we find comfort in that promise.
