Beth Johnson

Minister to Children, Youth, & Families

Beth Johnson lived her early years near the beaches of Tampa, Florida, before moving to Flower Mound. She graduated from Baylor University in 2006, majoring in education and recreation ministries. While coaching high school basketball in Waco, a call to youth ministry became clearer. She went on to study Youth, College, and Family Ministry, and received her Master of Divinity degree from Truett Seminary in 2012.

Through her time in seminary, she decided to live in distinctly different neighborhoods of Waco over 3 years, hoping to foster relationships with people from various walks of life and experiences. She also served as a Minister of Youth, College, and Recreation at Central United Methodist Church in Waco. Serving there for 10 years revealed a passion for adolescent development, practical theology, family ministry, and relational ministry. During the last years of seminary, Beth served as a Resident Chaplain for college students at Baylor University.

From 2016-2023, she served as the Minister of Families and Youth at University Park United Methodist Church, which included supporting the Children's Ministry. During these years, she also started working with Perkins Theological Seminary. Through partnerships with Perkins, she has taught courses at annual youth ministry conferences, teaches a class for their youth ministry certificate program, and served as a Reboot Coach. Most recently, Beth has continued her education with the Youth Cartel.

She has been married to Philip Johnson since 2013. Philip and Beth share life with their son and daughter, Jonah and Juniper. Beth and Philip enjoy the outdoors, fitness, documentaries, and time with friends. Beth especially enjoys the humor, meaningful life question, and overall perspectives youth bring to the table.

Prophetic Leadership Program

Royal Lane Baptist Church is thrilled to officially announce the launch of our new Prophetic Leadership Program! Last year, we applied for a four-year, $400,000 grant from the Eula Mae and John Baugh Foundation to create a program that would nurture our existing ministers and train new ministers in the work of justice and advocacy. We are excited to share that, through this grant, we are now able to bring this vision to life.

In support of this new exciting program, Royal Lane is seeking to fill two new positions:

  • A full-time, two-year Justice and Advocacy Fellow position
  • A full-time Office Administrator and Prophetic Leadership Program Coordinator position

If you are interested in either of these positions, please click the links below for more information and to learn how to apply.
